Design works completed within Ambatale water treatment plant

(Ambatale water treatment plant is the largest water treatment plant in Sri Lanka with highest production capacity.). All these designs are a parts of one large project which aimed on energy saving and capacity expansion to cater the forecasted demand by 2040.

P&M engineering did the complete mechanical and electrical design including pump selection, combined pump performance analysis, electrical panel designing, piping, equipment selection, ventilation design, surge vessel arrangement with all other auxiliary systems.



• Designing of 7400 m3/hr, Ellie house pumping station

This pump station is a new addition to the existing Ambatale 550,000 m3/day water treatment plant.

• Dehiwala pump station upgrade

Modifying the existing pumping station, with all necessary pipework to replace two of the existing pumps with two new 2300 m3/hr pumps. This is the main pump station supplying water to Dehiwala municipal area.

• Maligakanda pump station upgrade

this is an existing pump station within the main Ambatale water treatment plant. Existing pump station consists of two 2160 m3/hr pumps (1 Duty/ 1 Standby). Under the new scope number of pumps increased to 3 and the pump capacity is increased to 2752 m3/hr. modification required to be done with minimal interruption to the service. So the design staging was carefully done to do the modification while the plant in online.

• Existing intake pump station upgrade

this existing pump station pumped water to the main 550,000 m3/day water treatment plant, some of the pumps required to be replaced with much larger pumps to increase the capacity to suit the new upgraded treatment plant capacity. A modification design was carried out to replace these major pumps causing minimum interruption to the ongoing supply service.

• Designing a 22,000 m3/day waste water treatment plant

Existing 550,000 m3/day plant didn't have a sludge treatment system to treat the filter backwash and clarified water discharge from the plant services. Under this project a full design was completed to construct a sludge treatment plant to treat and reuse most of this waste water.

Completing engineering design of pump stations of A'Seeb wastewater system improvement project for Haya Water - Oman This job was done under a sub - consultant agreement with KEO international consultants- oman ( "KEO ")



• Design is completed according to Haya water Waste Water Design manual.
• This design scope included Civil, mechanical electrical and ICA design.
• Fifteen pump stations were designed under this work scope (Type 1 and Type 2 pump stations according to the Haya water classification).
• All P&IDs, Mechanical, Electrical, instrumentation related drawings were produced and submitted for approval.
• Performed HAZZOP workshop, and final approval was received upon incorporating the final comments.
